One option would be a REIT--real estate investment trust. There are a lot of these to choose from many of which are in niche markets such as shopping malls (SPG) or Public storage (PSA) or office buildings (CLI) or apartments (CPT). Many others besides. REITs though have to pay out their earnings as dividends which can limit their source of funds. Another option is a non-reit such as BPO. Its business is structured like that of a REIT but it does not fall under that category. A related company is BAM. It owns a controlling interest in BPO.
